Jim,
Thanks for the Happy New Year, I hope we both have one!
You helped me out of a problem or two before, so here’s what may be the last question I have for you.
I started using Xandros from day one, but I never learned much about Linux. I just wanted something that worked, first time, all the time.
Like everyone else, it’s time to move on..
I’m backing up my data by moving it to the external hard drive on my wife’s W7 computer, via our wired home network. Do you see a problem with that?
I have two hard drives. One has W 2000, the other Xandros.
IDE 1
Primary (c:drive)fat32 28.62 gb 2.74 used mount /disks/C
IDE 2 114.5 gb total
Primary (hdb 1) linux swap 502 mb
Primary (hdb 2) reiserfs 114 gb 18.19 gb used mount /
So I’m thinking about using gparted or something similar to resize hdb 2 to 20 gb. That should leave plenty of room for another partition onto which I can install another linux distro.
Can you have a computer with three OSs? Can GRUB or LILO handle it?
Do you see a problem with this plan?
Of course, which Linux distro is another problem!
Thanks,

Bill, I don’t see any problems with your plan. Yes, you can have 3, or even more OSes on a computer. Either GRUB or LILO should be able to handle that. I think I’ve had 5 OSes on one computer. You’ll probably have to change to GRUB to install a new Linux distro, as most distros are now using GRUB. _________________ I refuse to live in a country like this – and I’m not leaving. – Michael Moore |

Thanks, Jim,
I’ll keep you posted, hopefully not with a "What do I do NOW!?"
Cleaning out the file system is a daunting task.
There is a very long email chain I’d like to keep. I could cut and paste it into a document but that’s a long and boring task. Do you know another way?
thx,
bill |

Some email clients let you export emails as html or other formats. You might wander through the menus of the email client you use and see if you find anything useful. _________________ I refuse to live in a country like this – and I’m not leaving. – Michael Moore |
