I don’t know how to install Gcompris on Xandros, I need some applications….

SDL, SDL_Mixer, GTK, gnome-canvas, gnome-python, gnome-python-canvas.

How Can I do this?

Hola, miguex,

Bienvenido al foro de usuarios de Xandros! Para que le ayudemos de la manera m’as eficaz, primero haga el favor de contestar algunas preguntas. You did not say which version of Xandros you are using … 4.1? 4 OCE (Open Circulation Edition)? 4.5 OCE? Or perhaps you are running Xandros on an Asus Eee PC?

If you are using a "regular," non-Eee version of Xandros, please see the brief instructions below. If you are an Asus Eee PC user, I suggest you visit the Eee PC User Forum, which is specifically focused on the Eee and has a lot of experienced users:

http://forum.eeeuser.com/

It has a Search feature and I found several entries related to installing gcompris.

==========

If you have a non-Eee version of Xandros, gcompris can be installed easily by using the Xandros Networks application of your system:

Launch -> Xandros Networks

This will start up Xandros Networks (XN), an application used to install/remove software. {+}

Under the Edit menu > choose Set application sources. Then click in the box beside "Debian unsupported site" and place an "X" in it. (Make sure the "Xandros distribution site" is disabled/unchecked).

Under the Settings menu > put a checkmark beside "Expert View."

In the Search box (in the upper right-hand corner of the window), type gcompris and hit the Enter key.

You should see a list of 12 items. Clicking on the "Install" button beside gcompris will automatically install the program and other required components (dependencies) it needs.

Hope this helps. Please post again if you have additional questions. Buena suerte,
=david

{+}. You could also use the Synaptic Package Manager to do this, if you wish. (Synaptic is a graphical front-end for apt-get). However, you will have to install and configure it first.

<Edit: Corrected the URL for the Eee PC User Forum>

Hi, CirtexHosting,

The bit you quoted is nothing more than a friendly greeting for a first-time, Spanish-speaking poster (or my attempt at a friendly greeting):
