Tried that
Navigated to Control Center >Sound&Multimedia > Sound System clicked on test sound and start-up music plays fine.
Went to System Notifications> Play a sound, pasted a .WAV file and clicked play and ……no sound.
Fired up Console and ran alsaconf…didnt help
Strange…. I had no sound probs with 4.0 OCE

Have several audio (Amarok, XMMS) and videoplayers
(Kaffeine, SMPlayer, Xine) including "w32codecs", "wma"
and "libdvdcss" installed, without noticing issues. _________________ Linux User #432929

Doctore,
What is a good DVD player for Xandros that won’t hose your system…
"I knew I should have just installed the package… "

"Kaffeine 0.8.1" works quiet well on "XD4.0-4.2". Its available
from www.archlug.org and www.geekconnection.org Remember
to convert it with the "Alien-Trick" before installing it on "XD 4.5". _________________ Linux User #432929

i also have no start up or shut down sound on 4.5 OCE CD install. I have checked all other sounds, cd playback, you tube, etc. all work fine. so, sound system works, just not the .wav files on start up and shut down. that does not bother me as I never could understand why you had to have that irritating music at start up and shut down anyway. As long as all other audio playback works it is no show stopper. _________________ Moving On Up….to Ubuntu 10.04 |

Smoaky,
Can you describe how you got 4.5 OCE to finally load after all the CD errors? I’m having exactly the problem you described. I even burned media on 3 different machnes, including the one I was trying to load 4.5 OCE on, which is running XN HEP 4.1. All at the slowest speed. Tried both the DVD and CD versions. Thanks in advance.
