Hardware Compatibility

Xandros tests for compatibility against a wide variety of hardware devices and has compiled a list of devices that is believed to be compatible with Xandros Desktop. However, due to the number of models and variations, as well as the complexity of testing various combinations of hardware, Xandros cannot guarantee compatibility of all listed devices.

The Xandros Desktop uses XFree86 4.2 which provides accelerated support for video cards based on these chipsets, most other modern video cards will function well using the standard VESA driver. Accelerated OpenGL support is available out of the box for compatible Matrox and nVIdia based cards.  For cards using the ATI Rage128 Chipset, OpenGL support can be added from Xandros Networks.

This list may be incomplete, as it is a list of supported sound chipsets that are sold on a variety of models of sound cards or motherboard/laptops.  Only PCI or Onboard PCI Soundcards are supported by the Xandros Desktop.  ISA and Plug and Play ISA cards require manual configuration.

Multiple Processors
