Product Marketing Managers
Xandros is looking for Product Marketing Managers to fill permanent positions on its Marketing team.
The successful candidate will play a key role executing our strategic and tactical marketing efforts and will bring the energy and commitment that is needed to turn an exciting young company into an established industry leader. The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for development and implementation of product-specific strategies and programs. This role is outbound-focused and will handle go-to-market strategies, messaging, on and off-line marketing programs, sales support and training materials.
The Product Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with Product Management and Marketing Communications to deliver strategic direction, product positioning, sales tools and marketing promotions. This Manager will be responsible for working with the Sales organization to ensure that regional sales teams are enabled with appropriate sales tools and that marketing programs are effectively executed.
This individual will report to the VP of Marketing and will be instrumental in driving Xandros’ direction in one of the following three areas:
- Desktop/OEM Solutions
- Scalix open source email
- BridgeWays System Center Management Packs
Previous experience in business-to-business software marketing is essential. The right candidate will be a self-starter with a strong technical background and the ability to connect business needs with a technical value proposition.
Responsibilities
Manage all outbound product marketing activities for your Xandros product offering, including:
- Marketing and Communications
- Work closely with the marketing programs team to plan and execute outbound marketing programs in support of the products and associated services to generate awareness and leads, including development of creative content and analysis of results
- Define, create, and edit promotional and technical materials, including product collateral, brochures, whitepapers, presentations, case studies, sales guides, web site content, price list(s), pricing tools, press releases, advertisements, and other product-related literature; review draft marketing materials and technical publications for accuracy and messaging
- Work closely with the Channel and Partner management team to support their needs for co-marketing materials
- Support the sales and channel teams as the product messaging expert
- Develop competitive analysis and competitive positioning for sales and channel teams
- Product Launches
- Manage cross-functional teams as required to develop, plan and execute product/service launches and other activities; build market awareness, sales force readiness and customer demand
- Press and Analyst Relations/Mindshare
- Periodically brief the press and industry analysts on market trends, product features and new product announcements
- Represent Xandros as a speaker at industry events
- Product Planning
- Work closely with Product Management to develop product marketing plans and product positioning in the marketplace.
- Product Requirements
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret market segment or industry dynamics, market trends, geographical differences, and competitive market offerings and pricing and input from customers, partners and industry influencers to ensure differentiation and provide strategic input and direction for marketing efforts.
- Product Pricing
- Contribute to product pricing, including pricing strategy, financial analysis and justification through interactions with Product Management
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or related work experience
- 3+ years of product marketing management, brand management and/or marketing experience (software industry a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – writing, presentation, use of different communications media
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity and/or experience with software licensing and support/maintenance/training /certification infrastructure and productization - A MAJOR PLUS!
- Experience with e-commerce, direct enterprise sales and channel sales models desirable
